The agency will test, in particular, their security against surveillance

The Main Radio Frequency Center (GRFC), which is subordinate to Roskomnadzor, announced the purchase of 54 mobile devices from foreign manufacturers for 2.3 million rubles. This is stated in the tender documentation, which was posted on the public procurement portal.

The list includes 16 iPhone 11, iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 smartphones (four of each model), four more iPhones without a model and four iPad tablets. In addition, the GRFC plans to receive 21 smartphones from other manufacturers: Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, Vivo and Oppo, as well as six Huawei tablets.

“The purchase of equipment is carried out in order to study the protocols used in the framework of ensuring the stable, safe and integral functioning of the Internet on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the representative of the State Research Center told Vedomosti. The security of devices from surveillance will also be checked.

According to one version, based on the expertise, a legislative ban on the use of Apple technology in certain industries and recommendations for the rest of the population can be formed.
