Ruined King turn-based RPG gameplay trailer from the creators of League of Legends

Last December, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story was announced, but at that time, as in October this year, Riot Forge and Airship Syndicate studio did not show the gameplay. Fortunately, we didn’t have to wait long: the first gameplay trailer was presented at The Game Awards 2020.

Recall: in Ruined King, players can go to the narrow streets of Bilgewater and explore the mysterious dungeons of the Shadow Isles. With each change of scenery, new secrets, traps, puzzles, opponents and representatives of the monstrous fauna are promised, which abound in the game.

The player will lead League of Legends champions such as Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ari, and Pike. Each has two special dungeon skills that allow you to engage in combat and interact with creatures or the environment. Some tasks can only be solved by a specific champion: for example, Braum breaks thin walls with a shield, and Ari detects lurking enemies with the help of his sphere.

While the characters will be familiar to fans of the universe, there will be a new combat system in the game. Champions take turns using so-called path feats, instant feats, and absolute feats. They can also use items and passive skills in combat. At the same time, important elements of the combat system are indicators of mana, health, overload scale and the order of moves.

The level of champions can be increased. Each will have such a set of characteristics as attack power, will, stamina, protection from physical damage, protection from magic damage, critical damage, critical strike chance, haste, evasion, armour penetration, magic penetration and lifestyle. In combat, heroes play traditional role-playing roles, and when combined correctly, synergies can be achieved in combat. The game allows you to improve skills, supplement with runes, create winning combinations with the abilities of other characters.

Ruined King promises a large selection of items to diversify the battles. There are swords, pistols, potions, and a variety of armour, including the famous Warmog armour. Some items can change the characteristics of the owner. Each champion can wear armour, one weapon, and three jewellery. Weapons differ in appearance, and you can always see what the champion is armed with. Items can be modified and created: jewellery making, enchanting, alchemy and cooking are available.

In addition, Ruined King offers a variety of activities to earn additional rewards and learn more about the world:

  • on the board you can read announcements and take tasks to eliminate especially dangerous opponents;
  • fishing will allow you to get acquainted with the inhabitants of the coastal waters of Bilgewater and even get sunken treasures from the bottom – in Ruined King, all the catch is entered into a special catalogue, and the caught fish can be eaten or exchanged with a merchant for black tags, for which, in turn, you can purchase special items on the black market;
  • the bestiary collects information about the rewards for kills, as well as about the skills and habitats of creatures with whom they had a chance to meet and fight – for defeating a large number of creatures of the same type, champions receive beast runes that give permanent boosts;
  • side quests will allow you to solve riddles and secrets, complete assignments and receive rewards – from items to absolute skills and legendary weapons;
  • on the battle arena, it is proposed to defeat waves of opponents for a reward;
  • learning more about the history of the world can also earn an award.Ruined King: A League of Legends Story will be released in 2021. At the very end of October, it was reported that it will first be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (in early 2021), and then on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
