Rumors: Final Fantasy XVI will still be released outside of the PlayStation 5

Last fall, Square Enix presented the debut trailer for the Japanese action RPG Final Fantasy XVI, which indicated that it would be released on PC and PlayStation 5. After that, the developer asked everyone to forget about the announcement of the PC version of the project. But it looks like a release outside of the PS5 will still happen.

A PlayStation 5 commercial from Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Brazilian division showcased upcoming games such as Ghostwire: Tokyo, Deathloop, and Final Fantasy XVI. Interestingly, it contains a line that says this game will be a temporary PlayStation 5 exclusive.

There has been no official announcement from Square Enix that Final Fantasy XVI will be a temporary PlayStation 5 exclusive. However, in the video itself above, during the demo of the game’s trailer, it is said that the video was captured from a PC.

As a reminder, Final Fantasy XVI is being developed by Hiroshi Takai and Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida. The game is addressed to a  mature audience with life experience.

“I’m from the generation that has played the Final Fantasy series since the first real-time game — I’m in my 50s, ” Yoshida told Tokyo FM last month. “ I think Warriors of Light grew up in their own worlds, so I want to create a Final Fantasy world that can be enjoyed by those who know the good and the bad in reality. I believe that in adulthood, you have to face certain difficulties

Officially, Final Fantasy XVI is in development only for the PlayStation 5.
