Rumors: Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 Owners Will Not Get Free PS5 Upgrade

Marvel Games Director of Development Eric Monacelli, in a conversation with a concerned fan, commented on the situation around the availability of the remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man for PS5.

Recall that at the moment the only officially announced option for obtaining Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered is as part of the full edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales worth 5499 rubles.

Apparently, there are no exceptions to this rule: according to Monachelli, buyers of Marvel’s Spider-Man on PlayStation 4 will not be able to update their game to the PS5 version for free.

Monacelli’s claim contradicts Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, who has promised a free upgrade for PS4 versions of PS5 starter games, including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

It should be noted that Ryan’s list specifically did not include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered, and as such a new game, the re-release of the superhero action game Insomniac Games is not considered. Nevertheless, the case is remarkable.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered will include all three-story add-ons, and the remaster itself will boast improved models, animation and lighting, ray tracing, “near-instant” downloads, and support for 60 frames per second.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered will be available at the same time as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, that is, on the launch day of PlayStation 5 – November 12 in the US and other countries of the first wave, and November 19 in the rest of the world.
