The leaked roadmap for the so-called Resident Evil Village Online also contains an interesting detail: the title updates are tied to the as-yet-unannounced Resident Evil: Revelations 3. The latter was discovered during a major leak of data from Capcom to the Web.

Additionally, there is a good chance that Resident Evil Village’s online mode will be standalone shareware and battle royale in its own right, as Capcom docs mention exploring the success of projects like Fortnite, Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone.

Resident Evil Village is the eighth instalment in the main Resident Evil horror series. The game is set several years after the events of Resident Evil 7. In the story, Ethan Winters started all over again with his wife Mia, living in peace and leaving the past behind. However, Chris Redfield – the protagonist of previous Resident Evil games – suddenly invades and destroys their family idyll. Ethan, devastated by what happened, goes in search of answers and finds himself in a new nightmare.
