Sales of fitness bracelets and smartwatches will skyrocket thanks to the pandemic: people want to better monitor their health

Research firm Canalys predicts that sales of smart wearables like fitness bracelets, smartwatches, and TWS headphones will grow 30 percent next year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Next year is expected to be notable for people putting off upgrades to expensive smartphones and instead focusing on health-tracking accessories.

Users’ focus on their own health and wellbeing has skyrocketed during the pandemic, according to Canalys Research, which holds great promise for wearable companies such as Xiaomi, Garmin, Fitbit, and Huami.

According to statistics, China and North America became the largest buyers of wearable devices. They accounted for 24.2 and 28 percent of the shipped products, respectively. However, Canalys predicts that China will account for 26.2 percent of wearable devices by 2024, the Asia Pacific will account for 24.3 percent of production, and the North American market will decline to 19.1 percent.

Among other things, Canalys Research said that smartphone makers should focus on expanding functionality to help track health conditions so as not to lose user loyalty.
