According to the results of the first quarter, Google took fourth place with 4% of the market, but more importantly, the company’s sales grew by 20%. This is an excellent result, considering that the market as a whole sank by 11%, and no other company from the top five showed even close such a result.

As you can see, of the others, only Apple was able to increase sales, but only by 2%, while the shipments of Samsung, Motorola and TCL fell by 25%, 40% and 13%, respectively.

In total, Google sold 1.4 million smartphones in the quarter, about the same as all other companies outside the top five combined.

Apple, of course, remains the leader, while the Cupertino giant, although it increased sales by only 2%, managed to increase its share from 51% to 59%.

Pixel Phone Sales Volume

According to IDC, Google has sold a total of 27.6 million Pixel phones since the first Pixel was released in 2016. The Pixel 3 series was the best-selling Pixel family, with sales of about 9 million units. The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro sold well under 5 million units, but Google has said that the Pixel 6a, 7, and 7 Pro are the best-selling generation of phones the company has ever launched.

Here is a breakdown of Pixel phone sales by year:

As you can see, Pixel phone sales have been relatively flat over the past few years. However, Google has said that the Pixel 6a, 7, and 7 Pro are the best-selling generation of phones the company has ever launched. So, it will be interesting to see if Google can continue to grow Pixel phone sales in the coming years.

Here are some of the factors that have contributed to the relatively low sales of Pixel phones:

  • Limited availability: Pixel phones are not available in all countries.
  • High price: Pixel phones are typically more expensive than other Android phones.
  • Lack of marketing: Google does not spend as much money on marketing Pixel phones as other smartphone manufacturers.

Despite these challenges, Pixel phones have a loyal following of fans who appreciate the company’s commitment to providing a pure Android experience. Google is also making progress in expanding the availability of Pixel phones to more countries. So, it is possible that Pixel phone sales could grow in the coming years.

Sales of Google Pixel 2023

Google Pixel sales have been steadily increasing in recent years, and 2023 is no exception. According to Counterpoint Research, Google Pixel shipments jumped 67% globally year-over-year coming into Q1 2023. This was driven largely by sales of the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro.

One of the most notable trends is the growing popularity of the Pixel in Japan. In Q1 2023, Japan made up 34% of Google Pixel shipments, up from just 10% the previous year. This puts Japan as the top region for Pixel, where the United States has dropped from 51% down to 31%.

There are a number of factors that have contributed to the Pixel’s newfound popularity. One is that Google has finally stepped up its game in terms of hardware and software integration. The Pixel 6 and 7 series are some of the best-designed and performing Android phones on the market, and they come with a number of exclusive features that are not available on other devices.

Another factor is Google’s aggressive marketing and sales strategy. Google has been investing heavily in advertising and promotion for the Pixel, and it has also made it easier to buy Pixel phones through its own online store and through carrier partners.

Finally, the Pixel has benefited from the overall decline in the smartphone market. As consumers are holding on to their phones for longer, they are more likely to consider alternative brands like Google when they do upgrade.

It is still too early to say whether Google can sustain its Pixel sales growth in the long term, but the company is certainly off to a good start in 2023.
