Samsung Android devices accounted for ‘half or more’ of Google Play’s revenue

Thus, as of early 2019, Samsung devices accounted for “half or more” of Google Play’s revenue. Google Vice President of Partnerships James Kolotouros said this in his testimony.

In 2020, Google, in three deals, agreed to pay Samsung $8 billion over four years to make Google’s proprietary search, Google Assistant voice assistant and the Google Play Store the default app store on the Korean manufacturer’s devices.

Previously, Google proposed and then abandoned a plan that would have prevented Samsung from putting the branded Galaxy Store on the home screens of its devices.
