Samsung Announces Scroll Displays and Sliding Screens
Choi Kwon-young, Senior Vice President, Samsung Display Division, shared some interesting ideas about the foldable screen he is developing primarily for Samsung smartphones. This happened at a conference after the publication of the company’s financial report.
According to Kwon-Young, the first new type of Samsung Display will be released later this year. Samsung will be the first manufacturer to use such displays and will become the primary customer for Samsung Display. At the same time, Samsung Display did not make official statements about whether Samsung’s mobile division will use these screens on an exclusive basis.
These screens must be durable enough and use new technologies in addition to important features such as high refresh rates and low power consumption.
LG unveiled the LG Rollable smartphone with a sliding screen earlier this year at CES 2021.
