Samsung Display holds 5,000 patents related to organic display materials
Recall that, using a new organic material with increased electron mobility, the developers managed to increase the brightness while reducing the power consumption. The new display outperforms the previous panels by up to 16%. Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphones were the first to receive new displays.
Talking about its achievement, the manufacturer noted that materials play a key role in OLED displays, so much attention is paid to research and development in this area. Cooperating with the main suppliers of materials, the South Korean manufacturer is constantly expanding its own staff of qualified specialists and conducting scientific work. The fruitfulness of many years of dedicated efforts can be judged by the number of patents in this area received by Samsung Display worldwide.
According to the press release, Samsung Display currently holds 5,000 patents for the use of organic materials in displays. In the past three years alone, the company has filed more than 370 applications annually related to OLED materials.
