Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + will be supported for at least another year, and if successful, another two years
Samsung has confirmed that from now on, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + smartphones will no longer receive updates on a monthly basis. They were transferred to the list of smartphones that are updated once a quarter.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 + will no longer receive monthly updates
Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + were released three years ago, out of the box smartphones were running Android 7.0 Nougat. Over time, these phones received an upgrade to Android 9 Pie with One UI. Upgrading to Android 10 will not work for them.
It is worth adding that Samsung last month stopped supporting the Galaxy S7 line, released in 2016. Prior to this, they received two years of renewal every quarter, and the first two years were renewed on a monthly basis. Support for the Galaxy S7 should have been discontinued a year ago, but the manufacturer revised its plans, as the line proved to be very popular.
Thus, we can assume that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + will be supported for at least another year, and if successful, another two years.
