Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold users complained about flexible screens breaking in cold weather

Foldable smartphones with flexible screens are pretty new. Unsurprisingly, foldable OLED technology is far from perfect. Manufacturers continue to work on improving it. In the meantime, some Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold users from South Korea are faced with the fact that their smartphone displays break in the cold.

The temperature in parts of South Korea is reported to have dropped to -18 ° C. And this has caused problems atypical for this region: at least two users of foldable Samsung smartphones have already reported that trying to open the device at this temperature led to the breakdown of the flexible internal screen. It’s important to note that both the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy Z Flip have been reported. And these are not the first reports of such defects. Users of the original Galaxy Fold faced the same problem a year ago. Samsung claimed that the use of UTG glass in the Galaxy Z Flip would make the smartphone’s screen more resistant to low temperatures, but this, apparently, was not enough.

Samsung has not responded to user complaints in any way. It is not yet known whether the company will carry out free warranty repairs for smartphones that break in the cold.
