Samsung has released an application to update GPU drivers on smartphones

Qualcomm was the first smartphone chipmaker to provide support for updated GPU drivers during the launch of the Snapdragon 865. ARM also announced a similar solution a few months later. Xiaomi was the first end device manufacturer to release an application for updating GPU drivers on branded smartphones. And now Samsung has implemented a similar thing.

The South Korean company has unveiled the GameDriver app, which is part of the Galaxy GameDev initiative. There are two options for the application, one for the Mali graphics chips found in Exynos chipsets, and one for the Adreno GPUs found in Snapdragon devices. Both versions of the app are available on the Samsung Galaxy Store and Google Play.

These apps currently only work with the Galaxy S20 and Note 20. In addition, only certain games are supported: Call of Duty: Mobile, Black Desert and Fortnite. Samsung is expected to add support for more devices and other games to the app soon.
