Samsung patents a smartphone with an outward curving screen

The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has issued a patent to the South Korean giant Samsung for yet another smartphone with flexible screen design.

The document was named Flexible display device and method for manufacturing the same. The patent application was filed back in November 2018, but the development was registered only now – on October 13, 2020.

As you can see in the illustrations, we are talking about a device, the body of which can be folded in the middle like a book. In this case, the two parts of the flexible touch screen appear outside, as if encircling the device.

Having opened the gadget, the owner can get a small tablet at his disposal. When folded, you can interact with the front and rear sections, and the central part can be used to display any useful information.

Unfortunately, the patent does not provide information on the technical characteristics of the smartphone and its camera system. In any case, the device still exists exclusively on paper – plans for its possible launch on the commercial market have not been disclosed.
