Round shape is not just for beauty
Samsung Electronics has published an article telling the story of the flagship Galaxy Buds Pro headphones’ design development.
Samsung reveals the history behind the Galaxy Buds Pro design
As the company notes, the engineers focused on the “form follows function” rule during development. The Galaxy Buds Pro’s rounded shape with “minimal external resistance” has been designed for optimum sound quality. The shape of the earbuds helps to eliminate common problems such as external noise and wind sounds.
Samsung explains:
The shape of the Galaxy Buds Pro case is completely round, without protrusions. It is designed to reduce the noise generated when the wind blows into the microphone opening. The earbuds’ aerodynamic design, snug fit to the inner ear, and noise-canceling technologies help reduce unwanted interference and deliver light, continuous sound. “
The internal structure optimizes the capture of the user’s audio and voice without interference. To provide a versatile and comfortable fit for “all sizes and shapes of ears,” engineers and designers researched and then created several prototypes and mockups. The test involved people with different ear shapes.
In order not to fall out of the ear, the earpiece is fixed at three points – the tragus (the part protruding outward in front of the auricle), the antitragus (located on the other side of the tragus), and the spiral (the space behind the auricle).
Galaxy Buds Pro debuted alongside the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 +, and Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphones. The headphones are now available at a suggested price of RUB 17,990. Samsung has already released the first Galaxy Buds Pro update to improve noise cancellation and single-headphone mode.
