Samsung Electronics has announced a blood pressure tracking feature for its branded smartwatch.

The company announced that Samsung Health Monitor has been certified by the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as a medical tool for measuring blood pressure.

This feature will be available on the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 smartwatch from the third quarter of 2020. Subsequently, it will appear on future Galaxy Watch devices.

For the function to work, the watch will need to be calibrated using a traditional medical blood pressure monitor with a cuff, as shown in the video. After calibration, the pressure can be monitored without any cuffs or additional devices, only with the help of a watch.
