It will initially appear in the Galaxy Watch 6

Samsung has announced that the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature in its Galaxy Watch smartwatch has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. This function is responsible for detecting an irregular heart rate, which may indicate atrial fibrillation.

The new feature will be available in the One UI 5 skin, which will initially appear on the new Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatches. But then the Watch 5 and Watch 4 models will also receive this skin, so the IHRN function will also be available for them.

We are pleased to announce that the Food and Drug Administration has approved an irregular heart rhythm notification feature designed to help millions of people around the world who may not be aware of the potential risk. This is yet another example of how Samsung prioritizes proactive security solutions and allows users to gain a more holistic view of their cardiovascular and overall health.

Recall that the ECG function on Samsung and Apple watches was approved by the FDA a few years ago.
