But BOE may enter the supply chain later.

According to TheElec, citing its own sources, Samsung Display will begin production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15 in May, a month earlier than originally planned.

This is due to the fact that BOE, which Apple gave the order to produce some of the OLED panels for the standard iPhone 15 model, has experienced production problems.

The OLED panel planned for the standard iPhone 15 model is similar to the one used in the iPhone 14, but will receive a cutout for Dynamic Island, a camera, and various sensors. BOE is facing problems with light leakage around the opening, which is why the company missed the chance to be one of the first suppliers of panels for the iPhone 15.

Samsung to start production of iPhone 15 screens earlier due to BOE issues

Samsung Display was already supposed to supply OLED panels for the standard iPhone 15, but production of the panels will start earlier due to problems with the Chinese manufacturer. As for the Pro models, Samsung Display will start producing OLED panels for them in June, as originally planned.

Meanwhile, LG Display will also start manufacturing LTPO OLED panels for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models in June.

The early start of Samsung Display production does not mean the end of BOE supplies to Apple. The Chinese display maker is showing progress on resolving the issue and may start shipping OLED panels for the iPhone 15 within a year, sources said.
