Samsung’s mobile phone and consumer electronics divisions will be able to apply for a program that seeks to assess the broader use of work from home.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 441 new cases of COVID-19 in the country today as of Wednesday, the highest number of daily infections since early March, with most cases reported in the metropolitan area of Seoul.

Recently, there have been several cases of coronavirus disease among Samsung employees at its facilities in and around Seoul. In particular, earlier this week, the company was forced to temporarily close one of its buildings at its headquarters in Suwon, located south of Seoul, due to a positive test for coronavirus of an employee of the mobile division.

In March, Samsung had to close factories in South Korea several times due to established cases of coronavirus among workers. In this regard, the company even considered moving production of some devices to Vietnam to prevent further disruptions.
