LG is not the first to help Samsung

After Samsung Display announced plans to completely discontinue the production of LCD panels, it became known that Sharp will supply LCD panels for Samsung Electronics. However, Sharp cannot provide enough panels to meet Samsung’s needs. As it became known, Samsung plans to buy LCDs also in LG Display.

Samsung TVs with LG screens are not a dream

According to information from South Korea, Samsung Electronics is in talks with LG Display to purchase LCD panels for its low-cost TVs. The deal could be signed in the near future, and LG panel shipments could range from $ 0.8 million to $ 1.66 billion.

Industry insiders had previously predicted Samsung could order LCD panels from Chinese suppliers, including China Star Optoelectronics and BOE. However, it seems that Samsung prefers competitor LG to other companies. LG Display plans to ship Samsung large LCD panels from its factory in Guangzhou, China.

It is worth adding that LG is not the first to come to the rescue of Samsung. A South Korean company shipped Samsung’s 65-inch and 75-inch LCD panels in 2017 after Sharp suddenly stopped delivering Samsung TV displays.

It is important to understand that LG and Samsung are competitors in the TV market, with LG talking about the superiority of OLED TVs, and Samsung insists that QLED technology is more advanced.
