Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 + – flagship Android tablets with 120Hz screens and Snapdragon 865+
Samsung has unveiled its flagship Android tablets along with the Galaxy Note20 and Note20 Ultra smartphones – the 11-inch Galaxy Tab S7 and 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S7 +. While the tablet market as a whole is slowing down, Samsung manages to increase shipments: in the second quarter – by 3.9%.
Interestingly, unlike smartphones, the international versions of which received Exynos 990 chips, the tablets are built on a more interesting and fresh Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ single-chip system. In appearance, these are ordinary tablets with small frames around the screen (the front camera is located in the center of the horizontal edge).
The key differences between the two devices lie in the screen size and thus the size, weight, and size of the battery. However, the older 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S7 + boasts a weight of only 575 g and a thickness of 5.7 mm, while the younger 11-inch model weighs 500 g and 6.3 mm, respectively. Due to this thickness of the case, even the relatively modest dual rear cameras protrude slightly from the back, and the devices have lost the traditional 3.5 mm jack.
Also worth mentioning is the updated S Pen that comes with tablets. It has become more comfortable to hold, the thicker tip makes it look like a pen, the latency is reduced to 9ms due to the 120Hz screen. The pen is fixed by means of a magnetic mount on the back panel or on a keyboard case (the latter is a gift for all those who have made pre-orders).
The new Multi-Window function allows you to run up to three applications at the same time on one screen, and AppPair allows you to remember the combinations of several applications popular with the user. Now you can take handwritten notes directly in PDF files, on images, and in texts. Added the function of creating notes with audio bookmarks, as well as using handwritten and typed text on the same page. Full integration with Microsoft Office 365 is guaranteed. Among the preinstalled software, Samsung focuses on Clip Studio Paint for drawing, Noteshelf for e-notes and Canva for social media publishing.
DeX functionality has been significantly expanded. This is the ability to connect external displays or a TV via USB-C to launch a desktop interface via DisplayPort; and the work of technology in wireless mode via Miracast; and launching a desktop environment directly on the tablet screen. And the Sidekick function, which will be released a little later, will allow you to use the tablet as a second monitor on a PC via Wi-Fi (to expand the main screen or to duplicate it).
