Samsung wants to mainstream smartphones with flexible displays and is working on three new models

Despite the fact that Samsung has yet to release a new flexible display smartphone Galaxy Z Fold 2, network sources report that the South Korean manufacturer is already working on new devices in this category, which may see the light of day next year.

The company is expected to release not only the next version of the Galaxy Z Flip but also a more affordable version of the device aimed at a wider range of users. If Samsung does release a handful of foldable smartphones such as the Galaxy Z Fold Lite, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Fold S, it could mean that the manufacturer intends to turn flexible display devices into a mainstream product.

Unfortunately, little is known about Samsung’s plans for future foldable smartphones at this point. The source notes that the coronavirus pandemic, which caused Samsung to postpone the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 2 5G by several weeks, could also cause the launch of the Galaxy Fold Lite to be postponed. It is assumed that the South Korean company originally intended to launch this device later this year. The model is expected to arrive early next year and will resemble the first-generation Galaxy Fold more than the newer Galaxy Z Fold 2, which is due to launch in a few days.

As for the Galaxy Z Fold S, this device is supposed to be distinguished by the ability to fold both inward and outward. This approach could take the flexibility and versatility of Samsung smartphones to a whole new level. Expanding Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup could also prove to be a smart move if the manufacturer really wants to ditch the Galaxy Note series.
