It’s not the first time
Qualcomm may once again choose TSMC over Samsung to manufacture its new top platform.
Qualcomm could reportedly give the majority of all Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 orders to TSCM, as its new 3nm process yield can be as high as 80%.
It can. Apparently, TSMC itself does not disclose these data, and various experts talk about a gap from 60-70% to 75-80%. In any case, this is very good, because, for comparison, Samsung with its 3nm GAA process technology is doing very poorly, and the figure is only 20% so far.
Previously, Qualcomm completely abandoned Samsung services by switching the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 to the power of TSMC, and the updated SoC is much better. At the same time, Qualcomm noted that this does not mean a complete rejection of cooperation with Samsung. As you can see, so far we are talking about the fact that the next generation of flagship Snapdragon SoCs will be given first of all to TSMC.
