With its relatively large pixel size, Samsung ISOCELL GN1 takes the image sensor to a new level, combining enhanced light sensitivity for low-light shots and fast autofocus at the SLR level for dynamic scenes.

According to the manufacturer, Samsung ISOCELL GN1 offers the fastest phase-detection AF system on the market. Samsung Dual Pixel technology places two photodiodes next to each other in the same pixel, which can receive light from different angles to determine the phase. The sensor can instantly detect and focus on the desired stationary or moving object from any angle, even in low light conditions.

For low-light shots, GN1 uses Tetracell, a pixel fusion technology that improves the ability of pixels to capture and process more light. Combining four-pixel signals into one, Tetracell doubles the pixel size of the image sensor to 2.4 microns and increases photosensitivity by four times, making brighter photos with a resolution of 12.5 megapixels.

In addition to Dual Pixel and Tetracell technologies, GN1 also received Smart-ISO technology, which intelligently selects the optimal ISO and HDR in real-time, allowing you to capture a scene with multiple exposures simultaneously. The sensor also received electronic image stabilization based on a gyroscope, which allows you to take even pictures and videos even in motion. The image sensor supports video recording up to 8K at 30 frames per second.

Samsung ISOCELL GN1 will go into mass production this month.
