Serious Sam 4 Drops Planet Badass Subtitle Due to Translation Issues
Studio Croteam explained the reason for the rejection of the Planet Badass subtitle, which was supposed to be part of the Serious Sam 4 title. As it turned out, the developers removed it due to translation problems. Kotaku was told about this by Daniel Lucic, Community Manager.
Serious Sam 4 subtitled Planet Badass in 2018 when the game was first released to the public. The user with the nickname SamVision disliked the subtitle so much that he spammed the project’s servers on Discord with a photograph of Randy Pitchford wearing badass glasses. As a result, the developers got rid of the subtitle.
It turned out that the reason was not SamVision’s behavior, but problems with the translation of the phrase. According to Lucic, the development team failed to adequately translate the expression into other languages.
Serious Sam 4 will tell about the events preceding the previous parts of the series. According to the plot, the land was attacked by the hordes of Mental, and the resistance army, led by Sam, took to oppose them. The release of the project was scheduled for August, but for unknown reasons, the developers postponed the premiere until September 24. On that date, the shooter will appear in Google Stadia and on PC, and the console versions will be delayed until 2021.
