IDC Q3 2020 Report Published

Although the end of the fourth quarter is not far off, specialists from the analytical company IDC have just finished summing up the results of the third quarter in the server market. The report prepared by them says that the specified market in annual terms grew by 2.2% and reached $ 22.6 billion. At the same time, the shipment of servers in quantitative terms compared to the same period last year decreased by 0.2%. In total, about 3.1 million servers were shipped during the reporting period.

Analysts clarify that the lower or budget segment, estimated at $ 19.0 billion, recorded an increase of 5.8%. Mid-segment sales declined 13.9% to $ 2.6 billion. In the high-end segment, sales declined 12.6% to $ 937 million.

IDC finds it difficult to name a definite market leader since the gap in market shares between Dell Technologies and HPE / New H3C Group turned out to be less than 1%, which is comparable to the calculation error. The share of Dell Technologies, shown in the report, is 16.65%, the share of HPE / New H3C Group – 16.94%. This is followed by Inspur / Inspur Power Systems with 9.37%, followed by Lenovo with 5.88%, and Huawei closes the top five with 4.87%. Interestingly, Huawei managed to grow sales for the year by 19.9%, which is the best in the top five.
