Sharp Aquos Sense 5G is the world’s first Snapdragon 690 smartphone – Qualcomm’s most affordable 5G processor

Sharp has announced the Aquos Sense 5G mid-range smartphone with support for fifth-generation mobile networks. This is the world’s first commercial device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 processor.

The named chip contains eight Kryo 560 computing cores clocked at up to 2.0 GHz, an Adreno 619L graphics accelerator, and a Snapdragon X51 5G cellular modem. As part of the Aquos Sense 5G, the processor works in tandem with 4 GB of RAM.

The smartphone is equipped with a 5.8-inch IGZO display with a resolution of 2280 × 1080 pixels (Full HD + format). At the top of the screen, there is a small cutout for an 8-megapixel selfie camera with a maximum aperture of f / 2.2.

The main camera has a three-piece configuration. This is a 12-megapixel unit with a maximum aperture of f / 2.0, a 12-megapixel module with wide-angle optics (121 °), and an 8-megapixel telephoto unit.

The device has a flash drive with a capacity of 64 GB, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless adapters, an NFC controller, a USB Type-C port, a fingerprint scanner, and a 4570 mAh battery. Dimensions are 148 × 71 × 8.9 mm, weight – about 180 g.

The Aquos Sense 5G model is distinguished not only by the processor but also by the fact that it is one of the first smartphones on the Android 11 operating system. The device is enclosed in a waterproof case (IP65 / 68).
