Samsung has not had such smartphones for a long time. The company today unveiled the Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition aimed at the US military. These models develop the concept of the army smartphone Galaxy S20 Tactical Edition, presented in May 2020 .

Both models meet the requirements of the US military for mobile devices, and support Samsung Knox and Knox Dual Data at Rest (DualDAR), and due to this, it already meets the requirements of the NSA (US National Security Agency) for the protection of sensitive data.

The devices are preinstalled with ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit, which provides precise targeting, reconnaissance, navigation during military operations and data exchange) and BATDOK (Battlefield Assisted Trauma Distributed Observation Kit, which monitors vital signs in real time) injured military – it simplifies the work of a physician in the provision of emergency care). Finally, the DeX platform is supported, which saves the military from having to use a laptop.

In terms of hardware platform and characteristics, the Galaxy S23 Tactical Edition and Galaxy XCover 6 Pro Tactical Edition are no different from their “civilian” counterparts: there is IP68 protection and screen protection in the form of Gorilla Glass Victus + glass. But since we are talking about devices for the military, then already in the database, smartphones are “wrapped” in a special protective case that allows you to mount the device on your chest or on your arm.
