In a single-threaded test, Snapdragon 875 is inferior even to Apple A13 Bionic
The flagship SoC Snapdragon 875 platform will premiere in December, but Qualcomm’s test samples of the platform have long been ready. One of these was tested in Geekbench 4 with results that are not yet very impressive.
Snapdragon 875 is only slightly faster than Snapdragon 865. But performance may still grow
As a well-known insider writes on Twitter, the engineering sample of the platform did not cope with the Geekbench 5 test, but the results of the Geekbench 4 test are there. In it, the SoC scores about 4900 points in a single-threaded test and over 14,000 points in a multi-threaded one. For comparison, the Snapdragon 865 scores around 4300 and over 13000 points, respectively. But, if we compare the single-threaded performance, then the Apple A13 Bionic is much ahead: it has almost 5500 points. And the multi-threaded performance is approaching 14000 points. Apple already has the 5nm A14, which is even faster.
In general, while more is expected from Snapdragon 875, and this “more” will surely be as the SoC itself and the software are improved.
