The XPeng P5 is the first car to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon SA8155P platform, which is said to be three times the performance of the previous generation. The length of the car is 4808 mm, and the wheelbase is 2768 mm. The car also received a transparent panoramic roof with an area of 1.493 m 2.

The car is equipped with modern laser rangefinders (LiDAR), which are able to distinguish between pedestrians, cyclists, and scooters, static obstacles, and road work in difficult lighting scenarios (night, dusk, variable lighting, and dimming, tunnels, etc.).

The Xpilot 3.5 system provides autonomous driving, it includes 2 LiDAR, 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 millimeter-wave radars, 13 high-resolution cameras, and 1 high-precision positioning unit (GNSS + IMU).

The company’s Xmart OS 3.0 operating system offers an enhanced digital cockpit for user interaction with a next-generation vehicle that supports full voice interaction.

The XPeng P5 will be unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2021 on April 19, 2021, when details on pricing, specs, and availability will be announced.

An Xpeng G3 electric car spontaneously caught fire this week in China while it was connected to a charging station.
