Sony: developers decide whether to add PS4 save game transfer to PS5
Sony Interactive Entertainment has answered some questions in the official PlayStation Blog regarding the operation of games for PlayStation 4 on PlayStation 5. In particular, the company touched on the topic of transferring saves. Other details of backward compatibility have been announced earlier.
According to the platform owner, you can transfer all digital versions of games, data files and save files from PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5. If you have a PlayStation Plus subscription, you can also transfer your save via the cloud. However, there is an important nuance: if the game is released on both systems, the ability to transfer saves remains at the discretion of the developer.
We already have examples of PlayStation 4 saves not transferring to PlayStation 5: DIRT 5, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Maneater, and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered. But Sony Interactive Entertainment has confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy A Big Adventure support transferring save files from PS4 to PS5 with an update that will be available for download after the launch of the game.
PlayStation 5 will go on sale in Russia on November 19.
