Sony has banned third-party companies from releasing custom panels for the , but it does not itself yet.

Not so long ago, we wrote about PlayStation 5, which offered several options for side panels for the PlayStation 5. They, as it became known after the publication of the video with the disassembly of the console, can be easily removed and replaced. The mentioned manufacturer decided to take advantage of this, but it was not so. Sony forced PlayStation 5 to stop making the panels and give money back to people who pre-ordered.

Ps5-faceplates

As the resource Video Games Chronicle reports, at first the lawyers of the Japanese platform-holder contacted the manufacturer and demanded to change the name. It violated Sony’s intellectual property, so the resource was renamed CustomizeMyPlates. The site’s creators hoped that this would help solve the problem, but the lawyers of the Japanese company went even further.

After a while, they contacted the manufacturer and said that Sony’s copyright extended to the bezels. The creation and distribution of PS5 side attachments would lead to legal action, they said. Because of this, the manufacturer had to discontinue production and return the money to customers for pre-orders. CustomizeMyPlates will now focus on creating other accessories for consoles and controllers. It turns out that third-party manufacturers will not be able to produce bezels for the PS5, but Sony itself is in no hurry to do this.

PlayStation 5 will go on sale in Russia on November 19. The price of the console is 37,999 rubles. for the version without a floppy drive and 46,999 rubles. for the edition with an optical drive.
