Sony is first to use “more than four cameras” in Xperia 1 III and to abandon conservative approach with triple camera

Earlier it was reported that the company canceled the Xperia 10 II Plus, which was built on the Snapdragon 720 SoC, to tackle 5G smartphones. Sources have found evidence that Sony is preparing two smartphones, including a Snapdragon 690 model and a flagship device equipped with a Snapdragon 875 SoC. This is likely the Sony Xperia 1 III, which should also receive an improved screen and camera.

As for the Xperia 10 III, the Snapdragon 690 chipset is slightly inferior to the 750G. Built with Samsung’s 8nm process technology, it has two large Cortex-A77 cores and six small Cortex-A55 cores, as well as an Adreno 619L GPU with support for 1080p + displays at 120Hz. Its X51 modem supports speeds up to 2.5Gbps.

The source who obtained the information claims that Sony has a Helio P35-based phone in development, presumably the Xperia L5. He also adds that Sony is finally moving away from the conservative triple camera approach and adding “more than four cameras” to the Xperia 1 III.

If Sony sticks to the previously selected schedule, then the presentation of the Xperia 1 III, Xperia 10 III and Xperia L5 could take place at the end of February.
