Sony plans to add 5G support to all its future smartphones

Sony has reportedly ditched the idea of releasing a successor to the Xperia 10 Plus smartphone. The Chinese analyst said the decision was dictated by the company’s desire to equip all its future phones with 5G modules.

According to the new data, Sony will not be releasing the Xperia 10 II Plus, which has been in development for some time now. Most likely, this is due to the fact that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip was to be used as the hardware platform of the device, which is devoid of support for fifth-generation cellular networks. An alleged Xperia 10 II Plus with model number XQ-AQ52 / 53 was spotted on the Eurasian Economic Commission database on July 31st. This is the last mention of the device.

Sony is expected to reveal the Xperia 1 III and 10 III phones in early 2021, which will receive model numbers PM-134X-BV and PM-135X-BV, respectively. However, there is no official information on this yet.
