Sony releases last major Sony PS4 update ahead of Playstation 5 launch

The list of changes for firmware 8.00 is quite extensive, including changes to the available functions “Party” and “Messages”, new avatars, parental control updates, and much more.

In the new version, “Tusovka” and “Messages” are more closely related. Both apps use the same group of players for voice chats and messaging. Users will be able to start chatting with the party or send a message to a group they have already talked to, both from the PS4 console and from the new PS5 after its launch.

The developers have expanded the collection of default avatars, including “Bloodborne: Blood Spawn”, “Journey”, “Ghost of Tsushima”, “God of War”, “The Last of Us: Part II”, “The Last of Us: Updated Version”, ” Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End ”and others. Now you can mute the sound of all microphones through the quick menu during the game. 

In the parental control menu, the functions “Communication with other players” and “Viewing materials created by other players” were combined into one – “Communication and materials created by users”. There you can configure settings for communicating and sharing custom content. Children can also send requests to parents to use social features in certain games. 

Security features – Added support for third-party authenticator applications for two-step authenticators. 

The firmware has lost the function of creating events and creating private communities, and users will not be able to access existing events created by other users.

Recall that Sony is already accepting pre-orders at a price of 46,999 rubles for the standard Playstation 5 and 37,999 rubles for the digital version of the Playstation 5. Open sales will begin on November 19, 2020.
