Sony showcases VR controllers for PlayStation 5 with tactile communication and adaptive triggers
Sony has unveiled new VR controllers for the PlayStation 5. Glitched writes about it. The devices are spherical, adaptive triggers, and tactile feedback.
The company claims that the chosen design is due to years of research on various equipment. The developers tried to adapt the device for everyone by testing it in several demographic groups with different hand sizes.
New VR Controllers for PS5:
- Adaptive triggers. The devices use the same technology as DualSense (R2 and L2 triggers). The innovation is intended to give a new experience of playing under static loads, for example, drawing a bow;
- Touch sensors. The controllers detect the touch of the thumb and forefinger. The company says this will allow for more natural movements while playing;
- Tangible feedback. The developers promise users a more effective and detailed experience when using the controllers. They will convey more information about the virtual world, for example, from traveling in a rocky desert or fighting;
- Tracking. The headset will be able to track the position of the controllers through a special sensor.
- Sony has already started sending out controllers to developers so they can test them in their video games. The release date of the headset has not yet been announced, but according to The Verge, this will happen after 2021.
