Sony to stop production of some versions of PlayStation 4 soon
Sony is going to discontinue production of certain PlayStation 4 game consoles in the near future. Although the exact date of this event is still unknown, hints of it were found in one of the Japanese game stores where the consoles are sold.
According to a Twitter user living in Japan, he found information signs in one of the local stores that say that new shipments of certain versions of the console are no longer expected. In particular, it is indicated that there will no longer be deliveries of white PS4s with 500 GB and 1 TB drives, white PS4 Pros with 1 TB drives, and black PS4s with 1 TB and 2 TB drives.
Sony itself has not yet commented on the situation, but this is not the first such case. For example, last December it was reported that new deliveries of PS4 consoles of certain configurations are not expected by the American branded online store PlayStation Direct. In particular, then it was about the Pro-versions of the PS4. Shortly after the information became public, Sony removed the shipment announcement.
Despite such “calls” the manufacturer previously stated that support for PlayStation 4 game consoles will last for at least several years from the date of the release of the PlayStation 5 consoles.
