Sony vacancy confirms next generation PS VR headset for PS5 is already in the making

The next generation of PlayStation consoles is just around the corner, so information about this system continues to arrive. According to leaked information in a new PlayStation job for a VR developer, the PlayStation 5 will receive its own next-generation PS VR headset.

In a vacancy spotted by UploadVR staff, Sony is looking for a VR headset project manager – it explicitly mentions that the task is to develop a next-generation virtual reality headset. This not only means that Sony is going to leave the modern PS VR headset a thing of the past but also to introduce a helmet specifically designed for next-generation consoles.

In addition to this, the vacancy mentions some other details. For example, work on the heat dissipation structure is mentioned. Rumors of a wireless headset have also been confirmed, which is not surprising given Sony filed a patent early last year.

Sony has said little about how PS VR will pair with the upcoming PS5. On the one hand, the company has made it clear that there is no need to wait for the launch of a new VR headset alongside the PS5. However, we already know that some of the games that hit the PS5 ( like Hitman 3 ) will be fully VR compatible.

Unsurprisingly, Sony is set to continue pushing VR with more than 5 million PS VR headsets sold, according to the latest figures, making these the most successful headsets in the industry. The PS5 is due to launch towards the end of the year, although the exact date and price have yet to be announced. The next generation PS VR will obviously come out later.
