It is unknown why Square Enix removed the game from Steam sales, but Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is still available for GOG purchase. There is speculation that this is due to the upcoming remake of the cult project. Recently, the Polish studio Forever Entertainment agreed with Square Enix to develop several games for its franchise. Remakes will have a new visual component, but the gameplay and script from the original projects.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is the second installment in the Legacy of Kain series. The game was developed by Crystal Dynamics studio and released in 1999. It was directed by Amy Hennig, former writer, and director of the Uncharted series.

The game is a three-dimensional action-adventure game. In the story, the vampire Raziel wants to kill his creator Cain for revenge. The project was warmly received by critics and received several sequels, including Legacy of Kain: Defiance of 2003 – this is the last part of the series.

Over the past decade, there have been several unsuccessful attempts to revive the Legacy of Kain. British studio Climax (Silent Hill: Origins, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories) worked for three years on Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun – a kind of reboot that took place hundreds of years after Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver – but in 2012, Square Enix canceled this project.
