The world of ‘Star Wars’ reinterpreted by prestigious Japanese animated film studios: streaming from 22 September
Those who love the narrative universe of ‘Star Wars’ should not miss the animated anthology series ‘Star Wars: Visions’, which is streaming on Disney + on Wednesday 22 September. The main reason for the interest is that it is a collection of short films made by some of the major Japanese anime production studios: it is well known that George Lucas created the world of the Jedi and the galactic empire by being influenced by Japanese cinema and culture. , therefore ‘Star Wars: Visions’ represents a sort of closing the circle.
‘Star Wars: Visions’, all about the animated TV series
As per the tradition of the anthology series, each episode tells a story in its own right and with different characters. In this case, the common thread is the distant galaxy invented by Lucas, with lightsabers, spaceships, warriors, droids, and so on. Lucasfilm has decided to give seven Japanese animation studios the opportunity to freely use the narrative material of the ‘Star Wars saga, with the stated aim of producing short films capable of offering “an original and fresh perspective to Star Wars”.
Initially, the shorts should have been ten. Subsequently, their number was reduced to nine following the merger of the two short films made by Production IG (the studio that, among other things, made ‘Ghost in the Shell’ and the animated sequence of ‘Kill Bill ‘: very prestigious curriculum).
