Starlink Applies To Provide Satellite Internet Access For Moving Objects

Not so long ago, Elon Musk, during a conversation with one of the subscribers, approved the idea of creating a portable version of equipment for working with Starlink satellite Internet. Judging by the documents filed with the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), it is planned to equip land vehicles and ships, and aircraft with such equipment.

The FCC filing, Teslarati notes, allows Starlink to obtain a license to provide Internet access via a satellite network for moving vehicles that move on land, water, and air. The coverage area, by and large, should cover the entire planet, only for ground vehicles so far, only the territory of the United States is mentioned. Ships and aircraft will operate on the Starlink network outside of the United States, including international waters and international airspace.

As conceived by Starlink, the new service will allow customers to forget about the existence of zones where there is no possibility of accessing the global network’s resources. Both corporate and private clients will be able to take advantage of satellite communications. This service opens up special prospects for Tesla because the cars of the future will not be able to function without access to the Internet fully. When connected to the Starlink network, owners of electric vehicles of the same name will be able to forget about problems with roaming and the presence of areas of uncertain reception when moving in open areas. It is only necessary to solve the problem of interference in the conditions of dense urban development while being in underground parking lots and tunnels. Most likely, in this case, satellite Internet will be used in combination with a backup cellular channel.
