TCL vows to upgrade branded TVs to Android 11, introduced from 2019

Earlier this year, TCL appears in the news quite often. The company was one of the first to add the Google TV interface to its TVs. In addition, she kept her promise and updated the TCL 10L smartphone to Android 11. Today, the company delighted its fans with the announcement that it will update its branded smart TVs launched in 2019 to Android 11.

Unfortunately, the Google TV interface will only be available on this year’s models. However, there is speculation that this may change before the end of this year. TCL is expected to release an update to Android 11 for branded TVs in the third quarter of 2021. The update will bring several important improvements, such as the Gboard TV keyboard with speech-to-text and predictive typing. An important innovation will be support for the Instant App function, thanks to which users will be able to launch applications from Google Play on the TV without having to install them.

TCL’s plans for 2021 are very ambitious. The company plans to release a range of affordable 8K TVs by the end of the year, as well as popularize 8K resolution among content creators.
