As a reminder, in August of last year, it became known that Acquire Corp. applied to retain the Stealth Assassins trademark (the subtitle of the western edition of the original Tenchu) in Japan.

As it turned out, this procedure was extremely formal. Endo admitted that the trademark was re-registered only because the previous one had expired.

As for the potential return of the Tenchu series, the president of Acquire Corp. acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but promised to take the opportunity if it presented itself.

In particular, Endo expressed his desire to create a new Tenchu from scratch for the PlayStation 5 generation, and also called the mentioned trademark the foundation for a likely revival.

Tenchu games are set in Japan in the 16th century. The projects are stealth action-adventure games in which users take on the role of a ninja.

The last release in the franchise remains Tenchu: Shadow Assassins for the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo Wii. The game was released in 2009 and did not receive the highest marks from journalists: the rating on Metacritic does not exceed 70%.
