Tesla Electric Vehicle Registered in China Reaches Monthly Record

The continued high demand for cars and government subsidies previously allowed national Chinese manufacturers of electric vehicles to bypass the world leaders in terms of sales, but Tesla, with the advent of an enterprise in China, is actively pushing them out. In June, the number of Tesla electric cars registered in the country reached a record high.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to recent statistics from China. Last month, Chinese buyers registered 14,976 Tesla electric vehicles, up 32% from May. In fact, the number of registrations in June allows us to talk about achieving a new monthly record for the PRC market. Since the beginning of the year, 49 761 Tesla electric vehicles have been registered. Most of them were produced at the company’s enterprise in Shanghai, so from the point of view of model diversity, everything is simple here – in China, the company produces only the Tesla Model 3 sedan, and in the future, it will be joined by the Tesla Model Y electric crossover.

According to Piper Sandler analysts, in 2025 Tesla will be able to produce 4 million electric vehicles, and its share in the Chinese market will reach 7% of all passenger cars, including variants with internal combustion engines. The country’s authorities are concerned about the impact of transport infrastructure on the environment, therefore, the development of electric transport is fully supported. Tesla even adjusted the prices of its electric cars in China to be covered by government subsidies.
