Tesla offers a year of free Supercharger charging to boost sales

Electrek reported that Tesla is now offering new US customers a full year of free charging at Supercharger stations in the US to spur shipments by the end of the year as the company aims to set a new quarterly record.

Elon Musk recently wrote in an email to employees that demand for Tesla vehicles is high, but the company also needs to ramp up production quickly to meet expectations. Tesla is aiming to deliver a record number of cars to customers this quarter to surpass the psychological target of 500,000 cars in 2020.

To meet this goal, the automaker needs to deliver more than 181,000 vehicles to customers this quarter. That’s 40,000 more vehicles than the last quarterly record. It has now become apparent that despite strong demand, Tesla has decided to offer buyers a new incentive. To do this, Tesla has allowed its employee’s Sales in North America to provide one year of free unlimited charging stations for Supercharging new car buyers Model 3 and Model Y. The automaker wrote: “From 12 to 31 December all undelivered cars Model 3s and Model the Y (except Standard Range ), which will be delivered by December 31st, will receive one year of free Supercharger use. ” It seems that with such an incentive, buyers themselves will come to Tesla showrooms and pick up the purchased cars.

Tesla has previously offered similar incentives for acquiring additional customers, especially at the end of the reporting quarters. Last quarter, for example, the company gave away 1,000 free miles (1,600 km) of charging.
