“The stable and peak power of the Powerwall 2 batteries is higher than advertised. Now that we’ve gathered enough operational data, Tesla can unlock its full potential for free via a software update next month. Depending on the battery’s manufacturing time, this upgrade could increase its capacity by more than 50% at an ambient temperature of 30 degrees Celsius, ” Musk wrote.
The update will come over the air. As Teslarati notes, a 50% increase in power can lead to a faster drain on the battery life in some cases. However, the advantages of increased power still outweigh the possible disadvantages.
