For these reasons, Tesla starts producing new models with more expensive trim levels, and the turn comes to the basic versions later. The most affordable Tesla Model Y, worth $ 41,990, is ready to hit the market this year.
Information about this modification of the electric crossover has already appeared in the American Tesla website’s configurator. For $ 41,990, the buyer gets a crossover with a power reserve of about 390 km according to the conditional EPA cycle, a maximum speed of 216 km / h and an acceleration time to 96 km / h in no more than 5.3 seconds. Before that, only Tesla Model Y versions with an increased power reserve were offered in the United States, their cost starting at $ 49,990.
The Tesla Model Y’s basic modification for $ 41,990 is content with rear axle drive and a single electric motor. In contrast, the older ones are offered in a twin-engine configuration with all-wheel drive. The new Model Y is just a few hundred dollars more expensive than the Tesla Model 3 sedan but offers a more practical and popular body style. The rear-wheel-drive Tesla Model Y, now ordered in the US, will have to wait two to five weeks for buyers.
At the same time, Tesla Model Y buyers have the opportunity to order a third row of seats for $ 3,000 for any crossover configuration, except for the most expensive. This turns the crossover into a seven-seater to fold the two rear rows to a level floor using an electric drive. The second row of seats for the convenience of landing on the third is pushed back, and the backrest level can be adjusted. Third-row passengers are offered USB Type-C charging ports. The company’s American customers will also expect the ordered seven-seat version of the Tesla Model Y from two to five weeks.
