It is expected to have 8 large and 12 small cores

Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh generation processors are expected to be introduced in October . But now the Core i7-14700K model has appeared on the Web, and right away in the benchmark.

in Cinebench R23, the processor scores 2192 and 36296 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively. In CPU-Z, the results are 905 and 14,965 points.

In the first case, this is 4.2% and 16.9% more than the Core i7-13700K, and in the second – 3.8% and 18.2%. That is, the increase relative to its predecessor will be quite good. At the same time, the new generation is still the same Raptor Lake, but the bottom line is that Intel in the new generation will apparently do the same as it did when switching from Alder Lake, that is, it will increase the number of cores for certain models.

In this case, the software cannot determine this parameter, but we previously heard that the Core i7-14700K will receive eight large and 12 small cores. For comparison, the Core i7-13700K has eight cores, while the Core i7-12700K has eight and four.

That is, in two generations, Intel, practically without changing the architecture and characteristics in general, will make some models much faster simply by increasing the number of cores. At the same time, it should be understood that, for example, the Core i9-14900K will have the same number of cores as the Core i9-13900K, because there is simply nowhere to increase them.

The Core i7-14700K will run at up to 5.5GHz, but that’s just 100MHz faster than its predecessor.
