Microsoft has already begun automatically updating systems with Windows 11 21H2
Microsoft has released a message warning users that several flavors of Windows 11 version 21H2 will reach the EOS (end-of-service) stage in three months, on October 10, 2023.
This is the original version of Windows 11 that debuted in October 2021. The end of support means that this version of the OS will no longer receive cumulative security updates and new features from Microsoft.
According to the announcement in the official documentation, support will end for the following flavors of Windows 11 released in October 2021:
- Windows 11 Home (Home), version 21H2;
- Windows 11 Pro version 21H2;
- Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, version 21H2;
- Windows 11 Pro Education version 21H2.
Windows 11 22H2 (aka Windows 11 2022 Update) has been widely available for PC since October 2022. Microsoft has already begun automatically updating systems running Windows 11 21H2 with the latest Windows 11 22H2.
Please note that support for Windows 10 21H2 (Windows Update November 10, 2021) ended in early June 2023.
