The creator of The Evil Within will agree to re-head the development of the game only with complete creative freedom

Tango Gameworks founder and executive producer Shinji Mikami, in an interview with Variety, commented on the likelihood of his return as head of game development.

Mikami previously said that the last game he directed would be the action-horror The Evil Within released in October 2014, but since then the game designer has changed his mind.

“My line of thought is this: if I get a chance to make a game from start to finish in accordance with my vision, it will be my last project as a director,” Mikami said.

This quote is about Noah, an experimental project that Mikami and the team worked on before The Evil Within. The game designer has not implemented that idea, but he does not leave hope.

According to the original idea, the events of Noah unfold in a world inspired by the film “Dune”: the Earth becomes less and less habitable, and humanity goes to seek happiness on other planets.

Recall that in September it became known about the acquisition by Microsoft of all assets of ZeniMax Media and Bethesda Softworks, including Tango Gameworks. So, theoretically, Mikami has a chance to get a conditional carte blanche.

Mikami currently serves as the producer of the otherworldly action game Ghostwire: Tokyo. The game will be a temporary PlayStation 5 console exclusive for a year from its release.
